Suzuki Ignis driver Nobuhiro Tajima is looking forward to the
start of his 2002 Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC) class title defence after
a successful pre-event shakedown for the 3-5 May opening round in Canberra, Australia.
The Suzuki team used the official shakedown, held on a dusty gravel forest road
typical of those the rally will use, to fine tune tyre choices and suspension
settings for the three-day event.
"IÁm really enjoying driving the car again after being team manager for SuzukiÁs
Junior World Rally Championship Team this year," said Tajima. "This
car is a big improvement and very different from last yearÁs."
As
well as aiming to make a good start to the 2002 APRC, Tajima is looking forward
to using the experience gained at Canberra to help SuzukiÁs Junior World Rally
Championship team prepare for gravel-surface world championship events.
"Canberra is ideal for testing for the WRC team, because it is a rally that
has everything," Tajima says. "There are water splashes, jumps, a lot
of up hill and down hill, and rough and smooth roads."
The next report from the Rally of Canberra will appear on this site on Sunday
5 May, after the finish of the event.
